The last day of Memorial Day weekend brought a surprise. The new M5 MacBook Air is on sale. And for once I don’t mind the price.

Timothy Beck Werth drew the short straw working this holiday. Tech editor on duty. He spotted something most of us missed. An unexpected drop in price for the laptop we’ve been talking about forever.

Remember how much I complained about the cost? Right. I called the machine perfect. Flawless hardware. Stellar performance. Then I looked at the price tag. It hurt. Now it’s $899 on Amazon. That was the one gripe. The only one. It’s gone.

$899 is the lowest price ever. Ever.

Consider the context. Memory prices are everywhere. RAM is scarce. Chips are expensive. Yet here is a laptop with the lightning-fast M5 chip. Liquid Retina display. Speakers that actually sound good. All of it in a form factor so thin it feels like holding a sheet of paper that computes things.

I think this is the best laptop for the money. Period.

But don’t sit around.

While the Air takes center stage Apple didn’t stop there. You can dig elsewhere too.

What’s on sale right now:

  • AirPods Pro 3 – down $50 to $199 at Amazon
  • iPad Air (M5, 1TB) – save $300 if you’re at Best Buy
  • Beats Studio Pro – knocked down by over $100
  • Apple Watch Series 11 – $100 off at Amazon or Walmart

Did I mention AirTags? Four of them. Original generation. For less than $60 at Woot. That’s a steal if you lose anything worth finding.

Some people say wait. Wait for the next model. Wait for a holiday that hasn’t happened yet. But RAM shortages aren’t going away any time soon. Laptop prices are rising. This window? It feels small. Felt even smaller an hour ago.

If you needed a reason to click “buy” here it is. A perfect machine finally at a perfect price.

Will it last? Probably not.

“We were excited when it dropped to $949… now it’s hit its lowest ever.”

Get it while the numbers look right. Because they won’t tomorrow.
